This post almost never existed... Because there w This post almost never existed... Because there were more times than I'd like to admit that I wasn't sure Tan in the City would make it to 14 years. This month, we celebrate an incredible milestone. Fourteen years πŸŽ‰ While everyone sees the celebration, I wanted to share a little of what happens behind the scenes. Owning a small business has been one of the greatest privileges of my life. It has also been one of the hardest. There have been years where I invested more back into this business than I paid myself. I've carried the weight of making payroll before paying myself, lain awake at 2am wondering how I'd make everything work, missed family moments, questioned myself more times than I can count, celebrated quietly and cried privately. Then I'd get up the next morning and do it all again. Because giving up was never really an option. This business isn't just four salon walls. It's fourteen years of dreams, sacrifices, resilience and HOPE. It's every staff member who has believed in me, every client who has walked through our doors, every booking, every recommendation, every review, every spray tan. If these fourteen years have taught me anything, it's this: People often see a successful business. They rarely see what it cost to build it. So today, I'm not just celebrating fourteen years of Tan in the City. I'm celebrating every setback we survived (and there have been a few... 🫠), every lesson we learned, every obstacle we overcame, every person who stood beside us, and every single one of you who chose to support a small New Zealand business. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. I don't take a single one of you for granted. Here's to 14 years. And for the first time in a long time... I'm allowing myself to be proud of how far we've come. 🀎
